Michelin Guide Philippines 2027 Lists 127 Venues, Adds One Star for Makati's Flow

The second Manila and Cebu edition grew its starred list to 10, kept Helm as the country's only two-star restaurant and leaned toward Filipino cooking.

    What to know

    • The Michelin Guide Manila and Environs & Cebu 2027 lists 127 establishments, including 10 starred restaurants, 31 Bib Gourmands and 86 Michelin-Selected venues.
    • Flow, a Peruvian-Filipino tasting-menu restaurant in Makati that opened in December 2025, was the only new one-star entry.
    • Helm, led by chef Josh Boutwood, kept two stars and remains the highest-rated restaurant in the Philippines, which still has no three-star venue.

    MANILA

The Michelin Guide's second Philippine edition lists 127 restaurants across Manila and Cebu and adds a single new star, for Flow, a Peruvian-Filipino tasting-menu restaurant in Makati that opened less than a year ago.

The Michelin Guide Manila and Environs & Cebu 2027 was unveiled on the night of Thursday, Oct. 29, at a ceremony at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts. It names one two-star restaurant, nine one-star restaurants, 31 Bib Gourmand establishments and 86 Michelin-Selected venues, according to the guide's announcement distributed by PR Newswire. The starred list grows to 10 from nine in the inaugural edition a year earlier.

For restaurant groups, hotel owners and tourism investors in Southeast Asia, the result matters more than the gastronomy. A second edition is the first chance to see whether the listing builds a deeper bench or stays a short honor roll. The answer so far is incremental: one new star, a larger casual tier and no move at the top.

Flow Wins the Only New Star in Makati

Flow sits in the Green Sun Hotel along Chino Roces Avenue in Makati and opened in December 2025, the Daily Tribune reported. Chef Kevin Jonathan Uy leads the kitchen with co-executive chef Gabriel Ong. Its tasting menu pairs Peruvian and Filipino cooking.

Helm, the restaurant led by chef Josh Boutwood, kept its two stars and remains the highest-rated restaurant in the country. The Philippines still has no three-star restaurant, the Tribune noted.

All eight one-star restaurants from the first edition kept their status: Asador Alfonso in Cavite, Gallery by Chele in Taguig, Linamnam in Parañaque, and Celera, Hapag, Inatô, Kása Palma and Toyo Eatery in Makati, according to the guide's release. With Flow added, seven of the country's 10 starred restaurants are in Makati.

The inaugural 2026 edition, announced in October 2025, gave stars to the same nine restaurants that held them before this week's ceremony, GMA News reported at the time. No restaurant lost a star this year.

A Bigger Casual Tier and More Filipino Cooking

Most of the movement came below the star level. The Bib Gourmand list, which flags good-value cooking, gained eight first-time entries. Two more restaurants, Ato-Ah and Butcher Boy, were promoted from the Michelin-Selected category, GMA News reported. The guide added 18 new Michelin-Selected restaurants.

New Bib Gourmand names include Tatang's Lechon, C.H.E. Bacolod Chicken House and Bawai's Vietnamese Kitchen. Filipino cuisine made up nearly 60% of the newly selected establishments, according to the guide. The coverage area spans Metro Manila, Cebu, Pampanga and Cavite.

Michelin also handed out four special awards. Frances Tariga of Tadhanà in Makati won Opening of the Year. Francis Lacson of Digàmo in Marikina was named Young Chef, Clyde Joshua Zafra of Tito Boy in Pampanga won the Service Award, and Ron Job Sanchez of Automat in Makati took the Exceptional Cocktails Award.

Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, said in the release that "The Philippines continues to impress with the way its culinary scene is evolving." Context.ph reported that he pointed to native ingredients and regional traditions as sources of a stronger identity for Philippine cooking.

Tourism Officials Want Diners Beyond Manila

The government has framed the guide as a tourism tool. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the guide provides another avenue to promote Philippine tourism and introduce Filipino culture to international audiences, Insider PH reported. Officials want food tourism to support hospitality jobs, skills training and local businesses in destinations outside Manila and Cebu, according to the report.

Marcos said the government is seeking better infrastructure, connectivity and culinary education to draw visitors beyond the two main hubs, Context.ph reported. Neither report gave figures on visitor spending or on what the government pays to host the guide.

That gap leaves the commercial case hard to measure from the outside. Michelin's footprint in the country started with hotels: it recommended six Philippine hotels in September 2024 and 20 in August 2025, and five received a Michelin Key in 2025, GMA News reported. The restaurant guide followed that October.

The concentration in Makati is the pattern to watch for landlords and operators. Starred and newly listed venues cluster in a handful of business districts, while the government's stated goal is to spread spending to provinces. In Hong Kong, Bar Leone kept the title of world's best bar this year, a reminder of how long a city's dining reputation takes to compound.

The full 2027 selection is now live on the Michelin Guide website and app, and the next test is whether a third edition produces the country's first three-star restaurant or a second two-star venue.
