Accessibility
Last updated
We want everyone to be able to read Capital Times, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, screen magnifiers or other assistive technology.
Our commitment
Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium. We build the site with that standard as our target, and we treat any barrier you report as a problem to fix.
Accessibility features
- Keyboard access. The site is designed to work with a keyboard alone. Use the Tab key to move between links and controls, and Enter to follow them.
- Skip link. A skip link, the first item on each page when you press Tab, takes you straight to the main content, past the menus.
- Text size control. You can make text larger or smaller with the text size control. Your browser remembers your choice.
- Dark mode. You can switch between light and dark themes, and your browser remembers that choice too.
- Alt text on photos. Photos carry a text description for people who use screen readers, along with a caption and credit.
- Reduced motion. If you have set your device to reduce motion, the site respects that setting and limits animation.
Your text size and theme choices are stored in your browser's local storage, as described in our Cookie Policy.
Known limitations
- Charts. Charts on the Markets Data page are visual and can be hard to use with a screen reader or at high magnification. The same data is available as tables on that page.
- Advertising. Some ads are served by Google AdSense and are outside our direct control. They may not meet the same standard.
- Linked sources. The source links at the foot of our articles lead to other websites, which have their own levels of accessibility.
Report a barrier
If something on Capital Times is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us. Email newsroom@capitaltimes.asia with "Accessibility" in the subject line, or use the form on our Contact Us page.
It helps if you include:
- the address of the page
- what you were trying to do and what happened
- the browser, device and any assistive technology you were using
If you need an article in a different format, tell us and we will try to help.
